Often, I get the response that all my "best practices" are too high tech and their school does not have or they do not have access to computers. So today's q-tip is going low tech -- Using Foldables in Your Classroom
Vocabulary Book
1. Fold a sheet of notebook paper in half like a hotdog.
2. On one side, cut every third line. This results
in ten tabs on wide ruled notebook paper and
twelve tabs on college ruled.
3. Label the tabs.
4. Give each student a plastic sleeve to hold their foldables
Use this for definitions, study guides, conferencing. It is quick portable and very tactile. I use it for important definitions that they need to know, should know, often don't know. They have it with them at all times and we reference it often.
